Chelsea make Robinho bidChelsea have submitted a big-money bid for Real Madrid and Brazil forward Robinho. Reports had earlier claimed that the Blues submitted a £19.7 million offer for the former Santos star. “Further to media reports, Chelsea Football Club can confirm we have made an offer to Real Madrid today for the transfer of Robinho,” the London club stated.

Robinho was said to feel unwanted by Real during their lengthy chase for Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo, during which he was touted as a makeweight. The 24-year-old was also disappointed by the Liga club’s insistence that he remain in Spain instead of joining the Brazil Olympic squad, in which he was named as an overage player.

Robinho was reported by the Spanish press as wanting to work with new Chelsea boss and fellow Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari.

“It would be a dream for me to work with Luiz Felipe Scolari, who is one of the best coaches in the world,” he told them. Read the rest of this entry »

RobinhoEven though he said he would like to remain at Real Madrid, Robinho just declared that it would be a dream to join Chelsea.  The attacker said that everyone wants him at Chelsea and the club even increased their offer for him. Robinho wants to work with his former coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, one of the best coaches in the world and his agent said that he is not too appreciated in Madrid and considers a move from the club. The brazilian striker is planning to play for Brazil at the Olympic games because that’s the only title Brazil misses. If he moves to Chelsea he will need to skip that because the training schedule is pretty hard and he is willing to give up everything if he starts playing for the club from Stanford Bridge. Scolari has changed the club a lot and with these recent transfers the club is ready to win the champions league.

Chelsea - Arsenal 2 - 1Chelsea emerged as major title contenders after Didier Drogba’s brace gave the Blues a battling 2-1 win over rivals Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. The Ivorian striker pounced twice in eight second half minutes after Chelsea had fallen behind to Bacary Sagna’s opener. The result saw Avram Grant’s side leapfrog the Gunners into second place, five points behind leaders Manchester United, while Arsenal’s stuttering title bid took a potentially fatal turn.

United’s earlier win over Liverpool turned the clash at Stamford Bridge into a must-win game for both clubs, with neither side wanting to give up further ground on the league leaders.

Ashley ColeAshley Cole has apologised for his conduct during Chelsea’s 4-4 draw with Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Cole has been heavily criticised for his tackle on Spurs’ Alan Hutton, which earned him a yellow card, and for his petulant approach to referee Mike Riley, but it appears the Chelsea full-back has seen the error of his ways.

“I’d like to apologise to anyone I offended and of course Alan Hutton who I tackled,” Cole said. Read the rest of this entry »

Frank LampardFrank Lampard scored four as Chelsea bounced back from their embarassing FA Cup defeat at Barnsley by destroying bottom side Derby County 6-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Salomon Kalou and the superb Joe Cole also got on the scoresheet for Chelsea before David Jones got a late consolation for Paul Jewell’s hopelessly outclassed strugglers.

The victory moves Chelsea to within five points of league leaders Arsenal and the Blues also have a game in hand over their London neighbours.
